Focusing on both the design and performance. The handle is coloured and lacqurered. The high gloss finish of the famous Echizen Urushi lacquer provides the handle with water resistance and durability (particualr to the vivid colour). Blade itself is super lightweight but still feels strudy in hand. Coupled with the bright colour is the ripple pattern 63-layer damascus which is a standout of the blade design. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: medium;\"\u003eThe steel employed by the FukakuRyu is ATS-314, a \u003cspan\u003eproprietary steel by \u003c\/span\u003eHitachi.
